Bauwelt is one of the most important and long-standing European magazines dedicated to architecture and urban planning. Founded in 1910, it still represents a critical forum for architects, urban planners, and scholars of the contemporary city.
Ulrich Brinkmann, one of the most important contemporary German architecture critics and journalists, and long attentive to urban processes, has dedicated an editorial to our studio’s work on Adriatic Architecture.
“The Adriatic in the Living Room” is an emblematic title that emphasizes the interpenetration between architecture and the Adriatic landscape, a crucial focal point of the research our studio has been carrying out for several years through both theoretical reflections and built works.
Riviera 107 and DeAmicis154 are, for Ulrich Brinkmann, the subject of careful critical investigation. Architecture does not assert itself as an isolated object; rather, it takes shape as a mediating device between the urban dimension and the natural landscape. The relationship with the sea, the horizon line, and the Adriatic light becomes primary design material, capable of guiding volumetric choices, proportions, openings, and spatial articulations.
Our cover sketch aims precisely to describe this fusion between the lines of the landscape and architecture.
