The term “agritecture” refers to a systemic and integrated process applied to the rules of occupying open spaces (agriculture) and those typical of architecture. The crasis between architecture and agriculture marks a new field of action in which the approach to settlement does not begin with built space and move toward the colonization of empty spaces, but instead utilises the void to establish a possible new order.
It is a process by which the void reappropriates the solid. The idea is to think of these spaces precisely in their quality as voids, not as an “urban void” or a gap in built space, but as a unique generator of a category of spaces governed by the void.
It is an operation of de-urbanization: it is not the city and its rules that expands and colonises the void, but void space that, through an operation of understanding its taxonomy, gradually colonises the spaces of the city.
There is an inversion in the matrix of settlement: city-nature. The texture of the soil becomes the semantic and figurative matrix of specific acts of settlement: tower blocks generated by the patterns of agricultural fields serve as the natural continuation of the system of fields and open spaces.
