The redevelopment of the lakefront of the city of Geneva is an opportunity to compare a strategic area for the city, full of multiple activities, but at the same time disconnected from the adjacent urban fabric.
The FLOMENADE project originates from the desire to restore the naturalistic vision of the lake to citizens and tourists, making the waterfront enjoyable in all seasons, cleaning it from existing superstructures and creating new catalysts for urban well-being.
Floating platforms or platforms suspended on pilot boats, thought to be a continuation of the connecting paths between adjacent neighborhoods and the waterfront, develop a true relationship with water. Each platform has been assigned a different function to favor bathing, the development of relaxation areas and the multiplication of meeting places; naturalistic island, panoramic restaurant, floating forest, suspended square: each one is accessible in all seasons and is designed according to environmental sustainability criteria (photocatalytic surfaces, rainwater, microecology …). The redevelopment of the waterfront also takes place through the strengthening of the current cycle path: recharging points for electric bicycles, located in strategic nodes, and the reinvigoration of the existing greenery for biodiversity and the health of the territory are just some of the strategies adopted.
