Riviera 107, the new residential building designed by Giovanni Vaccarini on the Pescara seafront, revisits the theme of the Adriatic palazzina (apartment building) with a refined and brilliant interpretation (…) Read more – The Plan (May 2022)
VR107 is an urban redevelopment project on a site located in the central part of the Pescara seafront. The building is part of the skyline overlooking the sea: it is a landscape characterized by high buildings interspersed with the presence of some historic villas and some of their replacements from the 1950s-1970s (the Italian “palazzina”).
The project seeks a close dialogue with its landscape, opening completely towards the sea. It’s a sort of “section/prospectus”.
The building is designed with the predominant east-west orientation, the sides completely glazed and shielded by the overhangs of the terraces; the two north and south sides, shielded by the pre-existing buildings, are more closed, designed by full-height vertical cuts.
The new building is designed according to the principles of bio-architecture and eco-compatibility, with particular attention to the following aspects:
_ Zero CO2 local energy system for the total absence of combustion, articulated on a high efficiency heat pump system;
_ Integrated water management system with efficient solutions such as rainwater recovery for sanitary or irrigation purposes;
_Use of wood characterized by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification, for finishes and floors;
_Choice of materials and finishes on the basis of the preliminary LCA METHOD (Life Cycle Assessment), such as to guarantee the minimum environmental impact;
_Choice of components and/or equipment with low VOC emissions for materials such as furnishings, furniture, paints, coatings, insulation, wood products;
_Use of recycled and renewable materials and activation of a management and collection plan for recyclable materials;
_Use of green inserts on terraces and roof gardens, preferring local plantations with low water demand to minimize the bioeconomic impact.
