The project in Via Valadier, Rome occupies the uppermost story of a building from the 1970s.
The approximately 800-meter floor is organised around a central hall; from here two corridors extend out, on one side designed for technical staff, and on the other for the company management. The compositional element linking the common areas of the offices – the lobby and corridors – are to be found in the new surfaces of an interior shell: a series of spatial elements that create a “thick surface” that organizes wooden boiserie, storage, waiting areas and reception spaces.
The dominant element of this internal shell is the form and depth of this applied surface, in which matter vibrates and is moulded and deformed through plastic actions.
The offices are designed as fluid spaces where spaces are organized into areas of work, communication and representation. In the managerial offices work surfaces, walls and ceilings define a unique shell that also houses mechanical and electrical equipment: light fixtures, cabling, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
