Proger and Giovanni Vaccarini Architetti present a new concept of public school: a “simple” redevelopment intervention on a school building becomes an opportunity for an urban regeneration project of the isolated building and for the construction of a sustainable student-friendly building.

The idea is to combine the themes and places of learning with the urban context of the city of Pescara and the open spaces for park/garden teaching.

  • Creation of innovative teaching environments with high acoustic, lighting and thermo-hygrometric well-being performances.
  • Reduction of soil consumption and redevelopment of the park to create usable green spaces, which enrich the habitability of the place and put the school in relation with the natural environment and the landscape.
  • Permeability and flexibility of spaces, usability of all environments also for functions correlated to scholastic ones and of community interest, such as for example the gym and the sports field.
  • The school as an example of eco-sustainability, with the aim of making the community aware of conscious consumption and knowledge of renewable energies (the sun, earth and water), starting from lower secondary school. The use of renewable resources and the achievement of indoor and outdoor comfort conditions can be visible and understandable to users who will visit the building
